Vision of Life -
was developed to provide support for families affected or infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. We want to be a source of education, awareness and meet the growing needs of this community.
AIDS is the life-threatening stage of the HIV disease. It is the diagnosis given to someone whose immune system has become so damaged that certain diseases (opportunistic infections) or cancers can develop. These diseases take advantage of the opportunity of a weakened immune system.
People who are living with HIV and AIDS, as well as their families and close friends have emotional needs. To meet these growing needs, the VISION OF LIFE was birthed to offer support for people to come together and discuss their concerns with others who share similar issues. A support group allows people the opportunity to speak openly about their feelings and to get supportive feedback from others in the group.
Support Groups are not designed to "fix" people but rather to be a safe place for people to work through their own emotional baggage. Christian based support groups should go the extra mile and offer prayer and the Word to help people find emotional healing through the Holy Spirit. Group facilitators should be mindful to sense if a person needs professional counseling.
